Privacy Policy

AppFreeze, by Metaflow Lab · Effective 8 June 2026 · Last updated 8 June 2026

The short version

This policy explains what information AppFreeze (the “app”) and this website handle, why, and your choices. It covers both editions of the app — the free Lite version on the Mac App Store and the paid Pro version sold directly. “We”, “us”, and “Metaflow Lab” refer to the maker of AppFreeze.

1. Who this applies to

This policy applies to the AppFreeze macOS app and to the AppFreeze / Metaflow Lab website. It does not cover third-party services that have their own privacy policies (Apple, and our payment provider) — those are listed in section 7.

2. What the app collects — nothing

AppFreeze is a local utility. It reads the list of running apps on your Mac and lets you pause and resume them. All of this happens on your device. The app:

Your settings (which apps you manage, hotkeys, preferences) are stored locally on your Mac and never leave it.

3. Pro license activation

If you buy AppFreeze Pro (the directly-sold version) and enter your license key, the app contacts our payment provider, Lemon Squeezy, to verify the key. To do that it sends:

This is a one-time activation with occasional re-checks; AppFreeze is not “always online”. The key and the activation handle are stored securely in your macOS Keychain. We do not receive or store this information on our own servers — it is held by Lemon Squeezy as part of running the license. The free Lite version does not do any of this.

4. Purchases & payments

We never see or store your card or billing details. Payment is handled entirely by:

These providers collect the data they need to process the sale (e.g. email, billing country, payment method) under their own privacy policies.

5. This website

This website is a set of static pages hosted on GitHub Pages. It does not use tracking cookies, analytics, advertising pixels, or third-party trackers. The only thing stored in your browser is a small localStorage entry remembering your light/dark theme choice — it is a functional preference, never sent anywhere, and you can clear it anytime in your browser.

Like any website, the hosting provider (GitHub) may automatically log standard technical request data (such as IP address and browser type) for security and to deliver the pages. That processing is governed by GitHub’s privacy statement.

8. Your rights

Because we hold essentially no personal data ourselves, there is very little for us to access, correct, or delete. Where you have rights under laws such as the GDPR (EU/UK) or CCPA (California) — to access, correct, delete, or port your data, or to object to processing — you can exercise them with the provider that actually holds the data (Apple or Lemon Squeezy), or contact us and we will help. We will never discriminate against you for exercising these rights.

9. Children

AppFreeze is a general-purpose utility, not directed at children, and we do not knowingly collect data from children.

10. Changes to this policy

If we change this policy, we will update the “Last updated” date above and post the new version on this page. Material changes will be reflected here before they take effect.
